TutorTech User Code of Conduct

Welcome to TutorTech. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, respectful and productive learning environment for everyone.

This User Code of Conduct ("Code") outlines the expected behaviour for all users of our Services, including our website, learning platform, mobile apps, Marketplace, private microsites and related services.

This Code applies to all users of the TutorTech platform, including Visitors, Affiliates, Customers, Parents/Guardians, Students, Tutors, Marketplace Buyers and Marketplace Sellers.

By using our Services, you agree to follow this Code.

Affiliates are also subject to the separate Affiliate Code of Conduct. Tutors are also subject to the Tutor Agreement. Tutor sellers are also subject to the Marketplace Terms and Copyright / IP Policy.

1. Core Values

Our community is built on the following core values:

  • Respect: Treat all users with dignity and courtesy, regardless of background, beliefs, or experience level.
  • Honesty: Be truthful and transparent in your interactions and activities on the platform.
  • Integrity: Uphold high ethical standards and avoid any behaviour that could be considered dishonest or misleading.
  • Collaboration: Work together to create a positive learning environment that fosters growth and success.

2. Be Kind and Respectful

  • Communication: Engage in professional and constructive communication. Avoid offensive language, insults, threats, or harassment.
  • Diversity: Embrace our diverse community and avoid any form of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or ability.
  • Privacy: Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information about other users without their consent.

Users must also behave respectfully when using Marketplace features, reviews, comments, private microsites, messaging, support channels and any other community or communication tools made available by TutorTech.

3. Responsible Use of the Platform

Users must use the TutorTech platform responsibly, lawfully and in a way that supports safe and effective learning.

Content

Users must share, upload, post or list only content that is relevant, appropriate, lawful and aligned with educational purposes.

Users must not post, upload, sell or share illegal, offensive, unsafe, discriminatory, exploitative, misleading or inappropriate material.

Intellectual Property

Users must respect the intellectual property rights of TutorTech, Tutors, Students, schools, publishers, exam boards, content creators and third parties.

Users must not upload, share, sell, copy, redistribute or use copyrighted materials without permission or a lawful basis.

This includes, for example:

  • textbook scans;
  • paid resources from other platforms;
  • subscription-only materials;
  • unauthorised exam papers;
  • unauthorised mark schemes;
  • copied worksheets;
  • copied lesson plans;
  • images, diagrams, videos or audio files used without permission;
  • content copied or scraped from websites or other platforms.

Marketplace Content

Users must use Marketplace content only in accordance with the applicable licence terms.

Users must not copy, resell, redistribute, publicly share, scrape, repackage, upload elsewhere or misuse Marketplace content.

Users who upload, list or sell Marketplace content must ensure that the content is original or properly licensed, suitable for the intended audience, accurate, lawful, age-appropriate and not misleading.

AI-Assisted Content

Users must disclose AI-assisted or AI-generated content where required by TutorTech.

Users must not use AI tools to create, upload, sell or share content that is misleading, unsafe, infringing, inappropriate, discriminatory, harmful or unsuitable for the stated audience.

Users remain responsible for checking the accuracy, originality, suitability and legality of any AI-assisted content they upload, list, sell or share.

Academic Integrity

Users must engage in honest learning practices.

Cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, unauthorised collaboration, misuse of assessments, or any form of academic dishonesty is strictly prohibited.

TutorTech must not be used to help users cheat, evade school rules, submit work dishonestly or misrepresent their learning.

4. Specific User Expectations

a) Parents / Guardians:

  • Provide accurate information about your Student's needs and learning goals.
  • Supervise your Student's activity on the platform.
  • Ensure timely payment for services rendered.

b) Students:

  • Be present, engaged, and respectful during lessons.
  • Actively participate in learning activities and complete assignments diligently.
  • Communicate effectively with your Tutor.
  • Maintain a professional and appropriate online presence.

c) Tutors:

Tutors using the TutorTech platform must:

  • provide accurate, honest and non-misleading descriptions of their services, qualifications, pricing, availability and experience;
  • deliver tutoring services in a professional, appropriate and lawful manner;
  • maintain up-to-date schedules and honour confirmed bookings;
  • not solicit or accept payments outside the TutorTech platform;
  • comply with all safeguarding obligations, regardless of independent contractor, sole trader or business status;
  • avoid behaviour that could harm Students, Customers, other Tutors, TutorTech or the reputation of the platform;
  • ensure any materials used in tutoring sessions are lawful, appropriate and properly licensed;
  • avoid unsupported claims about learning outcomes, exam success, school alignment, SEND outcomes or qualification results.

d) Marketplace Buyers:

Marketplace Buyers must:

  • use purchased Marketplace content only in accordance with the applicable licence terms;
  • not resell, redistribute, publicly share, upload, scrape, repackage or copy purchased content;
  • not claim purchased content as their own;
  • not remove copyright notices or ownership information;
  • not use purchased content to create competing products, datasets, AI training materials or marketplace listings without permission;
  • report content that appears unsafe, inappropriate, misleading, infringing or unsuitable;
  • use reviews, ratings and feedback honestly and respectfully.

Tutors who purchase Marketplace content may use it for reasonable tutoring preparation or permitted educational use, but must not resell it, publish it as their own, upload it elsewhere or make it available outside the licence terms.

e) Marketplace Sellers:

Marketplace Sellers must:

  • upload, list and sell only content they created themselves or have the legal right to use and distribute;
  • ensure Marketplace content is accurate, age-appropriate, lawful, suitable for the intended audience and not misleading;
  • describe content clearly, including subject, level, age group, learning purpose and any important limitations;
  • avoid unsupported claims about exam success, learning outcomes, school alignment, SEND outcomes, qualification results or guaranteed progress;
  • disclose AI-assisted or AI-generated content where required;
  • ensure content does not infringe copyright, trade marks, design rights, database rights, moral rights or other third-party rights;
  • ensure content does not include confidential information or personal data unless lawfully included;
  • ensure content does not include unsafe, harmful, discriminatory, exploitative, offensive or inappropriate material;
  • comply with TutorTech’s Marketplace Terms, Copyright / IP Policy, Safeguarding Policy and Tutor Agreement;
  • cooperate with TutorTech if a content complaint, copyright concern, safeguarding concern, refund request or quality issue is raised.

f) Users of school, sports academy and SEND microsites

Users accessing TutorTech through a private school, sports academy, SEND provider or organisation-linked microsite must:

  • use the microsite only for its intended educational purpose;
  • not share private microsite links publicly unless authorised;
  • provide accurate information where asked;
  • respect the privacy of Students, Parents/Guardians, Tutors, schools, academies, SEND providers and other organisations;
  • not misuse curriculum, progress, learning support or organisation-specific information;
  • not make misleading claims about the access arrangement between TutorTech and the relevant organisation, including by describing it as a partnership, commercial partnership, sponsorship, endorsement, franchise, agency relationship or joint venture unless TutorTech has expressly authorised that wording in writing. 

Parents/Guardians are responsible for reviewing any consent choices relating to student-specific progress sharing with schools, sports academies, SEND providers or similar organisations.

5. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly forbidden:

  • hate speech, bullying, harassment, abuse or threats;
  • discriminatory behaviour or content;
  • grooming, exploitation or any behaviour that may place a child or vulnerable person at risk;
  • sharing personal information about others without consent or another lawful basis;
  • spam, unsolicited commercial messages or unauthorised advertising;
  • posting, uploading, listing, selling or sharing illegal, unsafe, offensive, exploitative, harmful or inappropriate content;
  • cheating, plagiarism, impersonation or academic dishonesty;
  • impersonating another user, Tutor, Parent/Guardian, Student, organisation or TutorTech representative;
  • attempting to hack, disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer or interfere with the Services;
  • using bots, automated tools or unauthorised scripts to access or misuse the platform;
  • using the Services for any illegal, fraudulent or unauthorised purpose;
  • offering, requesting or accepting off-platform payments for tutoring services, Classes, Marketplace content or other TutorTech-related services;
  • misrepresenting employment status, contractor status, affiliation with TutorTech or authority to act on behalf of TutorTech;
  • misleading users about TutorTech’s role, Tutor status, service ownership, school alignment, SEND support, sports academy requirements or educational outcomes;
  • uploading, listing or selling content that infringes third-party rights;
  • reselling or redistributing purchased Marketplace content;
  • sharing purchased Marketplace content publicly or uploading it to another platform;
  • uploading pirated exam papers, textbook scans, mark schemes, paid third-party resources or subscription-only materials without permission;
  • making misleading claims about educational outcomes, exam success, school alignment, SEND outcomes, qualification results or guaranteed progress;
  • misrepresenting AI-generated or AI-assisted content;
  • using Marketplace content to train AI models, build datasets or create competing products without permission;
  • attempting to bypass TutorTech payments, platform fees, access controls, account controls or Marketplace restrictions;
  • copying, scraping or reproducing Marketplace listings, previews, Tutor profiles, learning resources or platform content;
  • using school, Student, Parent/Guardian, Tutor, academy, SEND provider or organisation information without permission;
  • sharing private microsite links publicly without authorisation;
  • doing anything that may damage TutorTech, its users, its safeguarding standards, its commercial relationships or the trust of the platform community.

6. Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience a violation of this Code, please report it as soon as possible.

We take reported violations seriously and may investigate, request further information, restrict content, suspend accounts, contact relevant users, involve external providers or report matters to appropriate authorities where necessary.

7. Consequences of Violation

Violations of this Code may result in action including:

  • warning;
  • removal, restriction or editing of content;
  • removal of Marketplace listings;
  • restriction of Marketplace buying or selling access;
  • cancellation of bookings or purchases where appropriate;
  • withholding, reversing or adjusting payments where permitted;
  • account suspension;
  • account termination;
  • removal from Tutor, Affiliate or Marketplace seller status;
  • reporting to payment providers, safeguarding bodies, schools, sports academies, SEND providers, regulators, law enforcement or other appropriate authorities where necessary.

TutorTech may take immediate action where there is a safeguarding concern, legal risk, suspected fraud, intellectual property concern, payment risk, platform misuse or risk of harm to users.

8. Conclusion

By following this Code, you help TutorTech maintain a safe, respectful and trusted environment for learning, tutoring, content creation and educational support.

All users are expected to act honestly, responsibly and with care for the safety, rights and wellbeing of others.

Alignment with Other TutorTech Policies

This User Code of Conduct complements other TutorTech policies and agreements, including:

  • Terms of Service;
  • Data Privacy Policy;
  • Cookie Policy;
  • Payment and Cancellation Policy;
  • Safeguarding Policy;
  • Marketplace Terms;
  • Copyright / IP Policy;
  • Affiliate Code of Conduct;
  • Tutor Agreement;
  • any applicable upload, seller, AI content or platform rules made available by TutorTech.

These documents provide a more detailed framework for user behaviour, data privacy, safeguarding, payments, marketplace activity, intellectual property rights and platform responsibilities.

Users should familiarise themselves with all relevant policies to ensure a safe, lawful and productive experience on TutorTech.
