Version: v1.0
Effective date: 1st May 2026
1. About this Policy
This Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy explains how TutorTech handles intellectual property rights, copyright complaints and takedown requests relating to content on the TutorTech platform, including the TutorTech Marketplace.
This Policy applies to:
· Tutors;
· Customers;
· Students;
· Affiliates;
· Marketplace buyers;
· Marketplace sellers;
· visitors;
· rights holders;
· anyone who uploads, lists, purchases, accesses or reports content on TutorTech.
This Policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service, Marketplace Terms, User Code of Conduct, Tutor Agreement and Data Privacy Policy.
2. Respect for intellectual property
TutorTech respects the intellectual property rights of creators, educators, publishers, schools, exam boards, tutors and other rights holders.
Users must only upload, list, share or sell content where they:
· created the content themselves;
· own the relevant rights;
· have permission from the rights holder;
· are lawfully permitted to use and share the content.
Copyright protection in the UK generally arises automatically when original work is created and recorded; registration is not required.
3. Prohibited content
Users must not upload, list, sell, share or distribute content that infringes or may infringe third-party rights, including:
· copied worksheets;
· copied lesson plans;
· copied slides;
· textbook scans;
· paid resources from other platforms;
· exam board materials not authorised for redistribution;
· copied mark schemes;
· subscription-only materials;
· images, diagrams, videos or audio used without permission;
· scraped web content;
· AI-generated derivatives that infringe third-party rights;
· content containing trade marks used misleadingly;
· content containing personal data without a lawful basis.
4. Tutor seller warranties
By uploading or listing content on TutorTech, Tutor sellers confirm that:
· the content is original or they have the necessary rights to use and sell it;
· the content does not infringe third-party rights;
· the content does not contain unlawful, confidential or restricted material;
· any AI-assisted content has been checked for accuracy, originality and suitability;
· they will provide evidence of rights or permissions if TutorTech reasonably requests it.
5. Buyer restrictions
Buyers must not:
· copy Marketplace content for redistribution;
· resell Marketplace content;
· upload purchased content to other platforms;
· remove copyright notices;
· claim content as their own;
· share content publicly;
· use purchased content to train AI models or build datasets;
· use content beyond the licence granted at purchase.
6. Reporting suspected infringement
If you believe content on TutorTech infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact:
Email: legal@tutortech.co.uk
Subject line: Copyright / IP Complaint
Please include:
1. Your full name and contact details.
2. Identification of the work you claim has been infringed.
3. The URL, listing title or location of the allegedly infringing content.
4. A statement explaining why you believe the use is unauthorised.
5. Confirmation that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on behalf of the rights holder.
6. Any supporting evidence.
7. A statement that the information you have provided is accurate.
7. TutorTech response to complaints
When TutorTech receives a credible IP complaint, TutorTech may:
· acknowledge receipt;
· request further information;
· temporarily remove or disable access to the content;
· notify the user who uploaded the content;
· ask the uploader to provide evidence of rights or permission;
· investigate the complaint;
· restore, remove or permanently disable the content;
· suspend or terminate the uploader’s account where appropriate.
Notice-and-takedown processes are commonly used by online marketplaces to respond to alleged IP infringements, and the UK Government’s guidance on e-commerce IP protection refers to marketplace notice-and-takedown programmes as a route for reporting alleged copyright, trade mark, design and other IP infringements.
8. Counter-response by uploader
If your content has been removed or disabled and you believe this was a mistake, you may contact TutorTech at:
Email: legal@tutortech.co.uk
Subject line: Counter-response to IP Complaint
You should include:
· your full name and account email;
· the content or listing affected;
· why you believe the content does not infringe;
· evidence of ownership, licence, permission or lawful use;
· any other relevant information.
TutorTech may decide whether to reinstate the content at its discretion.
9. Repeat infringement
TutorTech may suspend or terminate accounts of users who repeatedly upload, list, sell, share or distribute infringing content.
TutorTech may also permanently remove Marketplace seller permissions.
10. Misuse of the complaint process
Users must not submit false, misleading, abusive or bad-faith IP complaints.
TutorTech may take action against users who misuse the complaint process, including account restriction, suspension or termination.
11. No legal advice
TutorTech cannot provide legal advice about copyright, intellectual property ownership, licensing or disputes.
If you are unsure whether you have the right to upload, sell, share or use content, you should seek independent legal advice.
