My name is Kirsty Anne Ledsham, and I am a passionate educator with over 20 years of teaching experience. Born in Stellenbosch, Cape Town, in 1982, I completed most of my schooling in Durban before matriculating in Johannesburg in 2000. After travelling abroad for a year, I returned to South Africa to study at the University of Johannesburg, where I earned a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in Psychology and Education. My teaching career began at my former high school before I joined the African Leadership Academy, where I became involved in educational outreach programmes supporting underprivileged schools. I helped establish remedial literacy and numeracy programmes, contributed to fundraising initiatives for computer centres, and participated in community development projects in Muldersdrift. These experiences strengthened my belief that education has the power to transform lives and communities. From 2013 to 2021, I served as Head of the English and Art & Design Departments at Charter College International High School. I taught Cambridge IGCSE and AS Level English and Art while leading numerous extracurricular portfolios, including Public Speaking, the English Olympiad, fundraising, charity initiatives, school events, hockey, and the Matric Dance. I also managed the school's website and social media platforms. In December 2021, I joined Cambrilearn as Head of Languages before moving to my current position as an English teacher. Throughout my career, I have also taught CAPS English, Art and Culture, and Life Orientation, and I have been appointed Head of the English Department in my last three teaching positions. I believe learning should be engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable. My philosophy, "Learning through Laughter," reflects my commitment to creating classrooms where learners feel inspired, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. I remain dedicated to lifelong learning, educational excellence, and making a positive difference.

About Me Hi, I’m Jessica – a qualified Maths teacher (QTS), Edexcel GCSE Maths Examiner and Second in Faculty at a successful secondary school. I have over seven years of experience helping students develop confidence, improve their understanding and achieve their GCSE Maths goals. My career began as a specialist SEND Numeracy Teaching Assistant before qualifying as a teacher, giving me extensive experience supporting students of all abilities and learning needs. I now teach GCSE Maths every day and have an in-depth understanding of the Edexcel curriculum, exam requirements and the common misconceptions that prevent students from reaching their potential. I believe that every student can succeed in maths when it’s explained in the right way. My lessons are calm, encouraging and carefully structured to ensure students fully understand each topic before moving on. Rather than simply teaching students how to answer one question, I help them understand why methods work so they can confidently apply their knowledge to unfamiliar exam questions. Every lesson is tailored to the individual. I'm an experienced maths teacher who has spent the last several years helping students build confidence and genuinely enjoy the subject. Over more than 3,000 hours of tutoring, I've worked with over 120 families across GCSE, IGCSE, 11+ and SATs, covering Maths, English and Science. My approach is simple. I meet each student where they are, work out exactly what's holding them back, and build a plan that closes those gaps quickly. Students I've taught have gone on to secure more than 25 grammar school offers, and it's common to see a jump of two to three full grades within a course of lessons over a year. I hold a Master's in Education, and I bring that academic grounding into every lesson, but I try never to let it get in the way of keeping things clear and approachable. Maths especially can feel intimidating when it's taught in a dry or rushed way, so I focus on breaking topics down step by step, checking understanding as we go rather than rushing through content. Outside tutoring, I've spent time working in charity leadership and in corporate roles at L'Oréal and the University of York, which has shaped how I communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds. I've also lived and worked across Asia and the Middle East, which keeps me adaptable and used to working with all sorts of learners and families.
